The Royal Vir Lounge and Men's shop
The goal of this project was to turn an unused 1800 square foot space into an inviting and comfortable men’s tuxedo and suit shop. The Royal Vir lounge and Men’s Shop will be a locally owned and operated, high-end, tuxedo and suit retail shop where tuxedos, suits and accessories will be on display for buying, renting and sizing. Royal Vir Men’s Shop & Lounge also has an in house seamstress who can fix minor issues with any rented or purchased items, and any major issues with a rental piece will result in a new one overnighted from the warehouse.
The public areas will be open to each other for good sight lines, there will be an office, utility room, three dressing rooms, and a men’s and women’s bathrooms. The design of the shop was modern with art deco accents which give the space an air of class.
As you walk up to the door your notice a well dress manikin in each of the four windows with an art deco pendent overhead. The rectangle window have been given a convex arch to break up the plan building’s exterior, as well as the transom window above the doors. As you walk through the diagonal wood plank door you’ll see the checkout counter to your left, the red focal wall in front of you and display case pieces to your left filled with clothing accents. Beyond the case pieces there is a wall of shelves and racks displaying tuxedos and suits in dark wood that emphases the modern design with their dominate horizontal lines. As you circle around the case pieces you’re behind the focal wall facing the help center with three stools and a (alcoholic) beverage center situated behind the midcentury warm grey sectional. The sectional faces the three sided mirror with custom box stand. Across the room from the lounge area are the three dressing room with one being universally designed.
There are two dropped ceilings with dark stained wooden beams which resemble a coffered ceiling. They define the lounge and display areas and continue the modern design with their horizontal lines. The colors chosen are tan neutrals to allow the clothing and accessories to “pop” off the walls and displays. The lighting picked highlight the four manikins, and unbuilt in case pieces.

Play house concept: Justice League
The goal of this project was to design a children’s play house design for the Baker family. The playhouse will accommodate five children’s needs aging form 9 years old to 18 months. The playhouse will be kid friendly to all ages and include age appropriate technology in different play zones. The location of the playhouse will be in the baker’s backyard and will be 35 by 50 feet. The primary challenges for this playhouse are to incorporate anthropometric and ergonomic needs for the bakers three year old son will, who has autism while still providing a fun play spaces for their other children.
The anthropometric and ergonomic needs of the clients were meet with furniture that the children could grow in and be changed out easily when larger piece are needed. Having the spaces well defined with muted colors and tones. Challenges were met by having different areas that the children could be by themselves while still feeling connected to the other children. Sensory integration was used to allow the child the ability to tune out distracting sights, sounds and touch sensation which will help them focus and improve their everyday life positively. These challenges were also met by designing the playhouse universally by using muted colors, big spaces, stairs with many landings, social components and nature based design. The functionality of the space was achieved by having plenty of open space between each specific area to keep the floor plan open and to have plenty of open play space for the children the ability to interact with each other while having specific areas where the children could be by themselves.
The principles and elements of design were used throughout the design of the playhouse such as: Balance, emphasis, unity, proportion, color and space. The play house was designed to feel balanced with each main area being about the same size as each other and proportionate to each other with the same colors used. The main colors are muted neutrals to keep from being over sensory. The accent colors came from the superheroes themselves but kept them muted as well. Unity was achieved with the use of color, space size and layout balance and proportion. Emphasis was achieved by having each main area defined with color and flooring.

Two Dimensional Design.

Artaroth Fall
This a stop animation about the seven stages of grief that Artatoth goes through after being banished from heaven. It was made with cut black construction paper and tracing paper to give the back ground depth. It took over 800 photos to create this 110 second video. Its not my favorite form of art but an interesting one.

Book and Magazine collage: Apple
7 MILLION VIEW ON TWEETER IN THE FIRST 24 HOURS.
A modern depiction of modern society
Brooks’ piece titled Apple represents a view of modern society or at least how the society’s mindset are headed. The piece is book and magazine page torn into small pieces and applied to matte board with mosh posh.
The work is made out of pieces black and white pieces of paper except the center apple is made from red paper. The upper back ground is made from recycled book paper from his earlier practice papers. The lower back ground is made from pages from the Webster’s seventh new collegiate dictionary for its dense wordage and then dyed darker with watered down Japanese ink. The hair of the two figure on either side of the apple are made from black strips of paper. The figure on the right’s hair is made from a magazine advertisement for cameras to give the hair the needed highlights. The figure on the left’s hair was torn into angled strips to represent the length of the hair.
Brooks’ uses implied lines to direct the viewer to the apple between the two figures. The implied lines are the lines of the figures themselves by pointing toward the apple. The bow of the figures arms draw your eye from the bottom of the artwork back to the center. The top left and right corners of the art work are empty of value change due to the use of the same type of paper but it doesn’t feel empty though with the different direction the pages were placed to give the space a feeling of motion. The upper background space doesn’t have the same weight as the lower background that represents the shadow of the two figures. The lower darker back ground feels heavier and less interesting sense the words are harder to read from the ink dying and smaller print.
In this piece, the light source is not seen. However, the light source is the slight upper left of the figures because how the highlights and shadows are shown. The shadows of the right figure’s arm holding the apple falls across his right shoulder. Brooks uses lighter pieces of paper to represent the highlights across the figures and apple. The shadows and highlights make the figures stand out from the background.
Brooks’ use of black and white creates unity and the use of the color red creates variety. His use of shades and values of black and white create unity in the artwork. However, the use of the color red creates variety and a point of interest.
The position of the figures creates a sense of desire. By having the figures standing apart from each other only touching though the apple creates a sense of tension between the two figures. Were if they could move they would embrace.
Brooks’ use of black and white gives the artwork a classic modern look instead of the traditional natural tones and hues. The black and white gives the artwork a classic feel like it was from a past time period before colored film while the subject matter is (for the wrong reasons is) modern for the new century. The use of the color red of the apple gives the viewer a focal point which has more than one meaning. The apple is the object connecting the two figures while the color red represents energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, love and is a very emotionally intense color.

Wall Sconce Project

The project was to create a wall sconce out of found materials and objects. Mine was made out of a piece of tin for the back, I broke a piece of mirror to reflect the light better and glued them to the tin. I stretched a piece of a type of chicken wire over the tin to have a surface to individually attack each individual piece of colored glass.
