The site of the location is going to be down town little rock on the river marker
at 301-317 east Markham Street. The new building is going to be using the
facade of existing buildings that dates back to the 1910s in the craftsman style.
This Project will be funded through a government grant to revitalize downtown
areas. The four buildings in the East Markham Street Historic District span
more than 30 years form the 1870s to 1905. They include examples of
vernacular commercial variations of the Italianate style and early 20th century
commercial designs. In 1916 there was a reconstruction of the buildings at
301-313 East Markham which added a strong Craftsman element to this historic
row of buildings. The new floor plan will include this historic existing building by
using the street facing walls as a façade that will hide the first two floors of the
new building with an outside area for the residence to use that is created from
the gap between the old and new buildings which will be in a modern - Italianate
style to blend the styles that prominent the river market already. The challenges
achieved in this project was to have a floor plan that served as a living area,
store and workshop under one roof that is set in an open floor plan with defined
spaces. The anthropometric needs of the clients would be providing access for
any type of clients that enter the shop. The challenges that the client faces is to
keep each of the three spaces separate from each other on a daily basis. Socieconomic
challenges that must be address is to keep the spaces upscale to bring
in the upscale cliental. Challenges about the location of the project would be the
bums engaging with the potential clients.
